What Is Trading Standards Accredited?

Trading Standards Accredited (TSA) follows on from the very successful Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin Trader Register which operated for over 10 years. TSA builds on the success of the Trader Register and, whilst the Trader Register was restricted to home improvement traders, TSA is open to all trade areas which means that all local business have the opportunity to benefit from the Scheme and consumers have greater choice when looking for a business they can trust.

Who runs the TSA Scheme?

The Scheme is operated by Telford & Wrekin Council's Trading Standards Service.

What is the purpose of TSA?

TSA seeks to help people find local traders and businesses who agree to do a good job at a fair price and commit to providing good customer service. Members must sign up to our comprehensive Code of Practice. TSA is also a way of supporting and promoting good local businesses.

What makes TSA different from other trader schemes?

The Scheme is directly operated by Telford & Wrekin Council Trading Standards who have local knowledge and expertise.

What if something goes wrong?

All members have signed up to our Code of Practice which requires the member to work with Trading Standards in the unlikely event of a dispute.

See How to Complain for further information.

What if I don't want to complain but would like to provide feedback on a member?

You can provide feedback on a member, good or bad.  Simply search the TSA website for the trader you would like to review and complete the 'submit review' section. For further information see Member Reviews.

Full details of the TSA scheme can be found can be found in Customers – Scheme Information

What happens if a business claims membership but is not on the TSA website?

Please contact the TSA team immediately who will investigate further.

Can businesses be removed from the Scheme?

Yes. Any business that does not comply with the Code of Practice or acts against the best interests of consumers can be suspended pending investigations or removed from the Scheme at our discretion. It should not be assumed that a trader that leaves the scheme has been removed for poor performance. Any trader can decide to cease membership at any time and no inference should be drawn from this. Once a trader has left the scheme for any reason, including voluntary resignation, we will not be able to mediate in any dispute so it is important to check that traders are still members even if you have used them before.
